Rasayana or Rejuvenation is the means of obtaining the best qualities of dhatus(body tissues). Literally the term rasayana refers to the means of obtaining the optimum nourishment to dhatus,thus the rasayana is a specialized type of treatment influencing the fundamental aspects of the organism viz. dhatus, agnis and srotas leading to an overall improvement in the organism which affords prevention of ageing,resistance against diseases, bodily strength and improvement in mental faculties.

 
What are the types of Rasayanas?
Rasayanas are broadly classified into two categories:

1. Kamya Rasayana
2. Naimittika Rasayana

1. KAMYA RASAYANA :  Is the one envisaged to be used  in healthy persons for promotion of mental and physical health. Kamya Rasayana can be classified into two categories.

Internal Rasayana:

1. What is Mind Rejuvenation or Achara Rasayana?

It is the disipline taught to the mind to follow the good code of conduct of life to attain liberation.

  • One must maintain cleanliness

  • All animals,  bramhanas, gurus, and elderly persons should be protected and respected.
  • One should practice limited sleep
  • One should take milk and ghee regularly
  • One should be aware of their time and duty
  • Free from ego
  • Affinity towards the spititual science
  • Broad mindedness
  • Good control over the five senses and function organs
  • Belief in the existence of god
  • Good knowledge about Vedas
  • Regular study of vedic scriptures

Those who practice the above said principles are eligible to acquire the qualities of rejuvenation.

2) What is Vatatapika Rasayana ?
The Rasayana that can be administered even if the individual is exposed to wind and the sun.

3) What is Kuti Praveshika Rasayana ?  
This is a special method of administration of  rasayana after the body purification, where in one is protected and kept in a specially made cottage, under the supervision of an expert physician.
